Well, obviously not, i'd stick with a desktop and smartphone... But the fastest CPU I could find anywhere near that price, full 4GB of RAM, decent sized HDD, huge battery and even a fairly decent (if still shitty) GPU.
The £200 you save can be spent on beer and hookers.

That thing is worse than my old 8600m, which couldn't play lufda on max settings.
GO get a desktop!
Froooom here --->http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/
For 800 pounds you could probably get a pc with better specs than mine, and then you could play BF3 when it comes out this fall!
I customized this one (though I'm not sure the link will show the customizations) even after tax you stay below 800 pounds and you'll be able to play BF3 on max settings easily (assuming bf3 is only a bit of a step up from bc2).

There are probably several changes in there you can make and have a better system, but I customized it with one of the new i7's (with HD graphics built in
You probably want to stick another two gig stick in there to be even moar epic, but you can do that later. :>
EDIT#2
No...it doesn't show the customizations...
Go play around with them!

I dont even have a graphics card in my current PC. Integrated ftw.
The review herereckons the 310M can play L4D at high settings around the 40FPS mark, though I didn't assume you'd be buying a laptop to game on.... cuz thats retarded, obviously.

How...the hell can you say that.
respect--;
Well, Boz, it's hard to find a laptop with a decent video card.
http://www.cyberpowe...-5800_Notebook/
You can customize this one just like the desktop--for the mostpart--and it has an ATI HD 4650 in it that'll give you around 70 fps on lufda with high settings.
I'll go look for a decently priced Asus laptop, they usually have pretty good graphics cards in them.

You gotta customize the specs yourself but it works out cheaper. I got my desktop from them almost a month ago.

The GT 330m is a nice jump from the card in your previous laptop...*if I remember correctly ;o* But it's still not that fantastic. You probably won't be able to run bf3 at all. :"{
